The Walls of Thumayriyah, Abu Dhabi

Description

Only some things in photography are a matter of luck, as I also searched for this photograph for weeks.

I knew the foreground beside the sea was usually underwater at high tide. I analyzed the weather day by day and waited for the precise day when the atmospheric pressure would increase to have a high probability of cloudiness in the area. Plus, I arrived at low tide and tried to avoid such a harsh light (which was not precisely the case).

Ultimately, the Thumayriyah Walls gave me this shot, which I am very proud of. In this photograph, I can say that I had to put into practice technical elements that put me to the test: correct exposure management in a very harsh light, the shutter speed that allowed me to give that feeling of movement in the clouds and ethereal calm in the sea, and the fact of having to correctly balance the color of the whole shot in general, which, by the way, I loved.

All this would not have been possible without a good tripod, polarizing filter, and neutral density filter.
